THE Legend of the Mountain of Tangkuban Perahu

    Once upon a time in Pasundan land, west java, there was beautiful woman who was actually a beautiful heavenly goddes. Her name was dayang sumbi. She lived in a hut at the forest with her faithful dog, Tumang.
    One day while weaving cloth, she lost one of the tools. Being tired of looking for it everywhere. Dayang sumbi said to herself, “Anyone who can find my lost tool and give it back to me, if he is a male, i’ll make him a husband and if she is female, i’ll make her a sister.”
    To her shock, Tumang found the tool and returned it to her. Unavoidably, dayang sumbi had to fulfill her own promise to marry Tumang, who was once a man who had been cursed by an evil witch into a dog.
    It so happened that Dayang Sumbi bore a baby son and named it Sangkuriang. Sangkuriang grew in to healthy teenager who liked hunting animals in the forest. Dayang Sumbi never told Sangkuriang that Tumang was his father.
    One day, sangkuriang and tumang hunted for a deer in the forest. Soon they met a bor. Sangkuriang wondered, “why isn’t there are any deer today? But, i think a boar will not make any difference. “Sangkuriang shouted at Tumang. ”Go and fight the boar. Kill it for me!”
    To his surprise, Tumang didn’t kill the boar because the boar was actually Dayang Sumbi’s mother. The boar went away safely. This made Sangkuriang so furious that he killes Tumang. Then, he took out the dog’s heart and gave it to Dayang Sumbi.
    Having eaten the heart, Dayang sumbi asked Sangkuriang, “By the way, where is Tumang? I haven’t seen him since you came back from hunting.”
    “mother,” replied Sangkuriang softly. “i killed Tumang for his disobedience. The heart that you ate was really Tumang’s Heart.”
    “You! You are an ungrateful child” cried Dayang Sumbi, hitting a soup ladle onto Sangkuriang’s head violently untill his head was bleeding. “Get out of my face, you murderer. How dare you killed your own father. You are a useless son!”
    Bleeding on the head, Sangkuriang run away into the deep Forest and up to hill. Years passed by, Sangkuriang turned into a handsome and skillful hunter. He had forgotten all his better past because he had lost his memory. He even forgot about his name.
    One day, Sangkuriang met a beautiful woman in the forest with whom he fell in love. The woman  was Dayang Sumbi, who could not grow old as she was goddess. Sangkuriang did not recognize her own mother, but dayang sumbi recognize Sangkuriang from the old scar on his head.
    Deeply in love, Sangkuriang proposed her to marry. To avoid the for bidden marriage between a mother and a son, Dayang Sumbi asked him to make a man- made lake and a boat in one night as a wedding gift for her. With the help of the unseen creatures from the forest, Sangkuriang built the lake and the boat. Dayang Sumbi know about it and she outwitted Sangkuriang so that the work was not completely done. Knowing this, Sangkuriang was so angry that he kicked the boat and the boat turned upside down. It became the mountain of Tangkuban Perahu in West Java.

The Magic box

            Once upon a time, there was a poor farmer who live with his wife. One day, he dug up his field and found a big box. He took it homw with him and showed it to his wife. His wife cleaned the box and kept it in theirs house.

            One sunny morning his wife dropped an apple into it. Suddenly, the box began fill up with apple. No matter how many the apples were taken out, more apples took their place. So, the farmer and his wife decide to sell the apples and in short time they were able to live quite comportably.

            Once day, the farmer dropped a gold coin in to box. At once, apples disappeared and the box began to fill it self with coins. Every day, the farmer and his wife collected hundreds of gold coins from the box. Soon, they became very rich.

            Having heard that his son had gone rice, the farmer’s grandfather visited the couple. He was not very strong and he could not go out to work any more. So, the farmer asked the old man to help him take the moneyout of hte box. When his grandfather told his son that  he was tired and wanted a rest, the farmer shouted at him, “Why are you so lazy? Why can’t you work harder?”

            The old man did say anything, and continued to work until he fell into the box and suddenly died. At once, the money disappeared and the box began to fill up with dead grandfahters.

            The Farmer had to pull them out and burry them. To do this, he had to spend all the money he had collected. When he had used up all the money, the box broke and the farmer was just as poor as he was before.

The Pros and Cons of Video Games

            Nowadays, the video games industry is developing rapidly, it becomes a multi-billion dollar industry. Video games have become an important part not only in the children’s life but also adults’. Nevertheless, there us an argument wheter video games bring good or bad influences on children.

            People who have a pro argument claim that video games give a lot benefits. Playing video games is a good way to kill children’s boredom. It can refresh the children’s mind after a tiring school day. Moreover, they also argue that video games can trigger children to be more creative because the game provide challenginf ways to win. In others word, they believe that the video games can actually sharpen a human’s brain.

            Conversely, some people believe that video game makes children lazy. They argue that playing video games is addictive. As a consequence, most the children prefer playing video games to studying. These children find it hard to concentrate on their study because they alwasy think about how to spend more time playing video games. In fact, there are also some children who skip their extracurricular lessons, just because they want to play video games. In addition, most of video games often expose to much violence. Two years ago in the USA, for example, a student shot his teacher and some of his friends. Newspaper said that the boy was deeply influenced by the actions in the video games he used to play with.

            It is obvious that video games have more disadvantages than advantages. Therefore, parents should be very careful in selecting the appropriate games for theirs children.

What Causes Weather?

            Weather is the phsical condition of the atmosphere at a perticular time. It includes temperature, air presseure and water content.

            Weather is produced when air moves from place to place. This moving air is known as wind. Winds are caused by warm air rising and cooler air moving to replace it. Warm air is usually less dense than cool air; therefore, it creates low air pressure. Cool air is more dense and creates high air pressure.

            Usually we have fine weather when the air pressure is high, and we will have clouds, rain or snow when air pressure drops.
